Daily Espresso Log
Description
This is not an engineering or durability review; that’s above my pay grade. It’s an end-user view from someone who has had more than 40 grinders across his espresso bench in the previous three years.
Column headings include:
- Grinder/Burr Set: name of the grinder make and model along with the burr set
- Date: date of the pour
- Roast: name the roastery
- Date Roasted: write in the roast date
- Profile: note the name of the pour profile e.g. adaptive, favorite, 9 bar
- Bean: name and/or description from the roaster or green bean supplier
- Depth: Nordic, Light, Medium/Light, Medium, Medium/Dark, Dark)
- G In (Scale): the weight of the beans you are grinding
- Dial #: the grinder setting number
- Sec (Scale): the seconds recorded for the pour if you are using a scale
- G Out (Scale): the weight in the cup if you are using a scale
- Flow (Scale): flow rate in ml/sec if you using a scale or machine that measures it
- Comments: what you liked, didn’t like, what you noticed


Daily Filter Log
Description
This is the log I use to record my filter/pour over coffee. By keeping a log it makes fine tuning easier for a new batch of beans that is similar to a previous bean that I enjoyed.
Column headings include:
- Grinder/Burr Set: name of the grinder make and model along with the burr set
- Date: date of the pour
- Roast: name the roastery
- Date Roasted: write in the roast date
- Profile: note the name of the pour profile e.g. Tetsu Hario, 40/60 method
- Bean: name and/or description from the roaster or green bean supplier
- Depth: Nordic, Light, Medium/Light, Medium, Medium/Dark, Dark)
- Dial #: the grinder setting number
- G In (Scale): the weight of the beans you are grinding
- Paper: the type/name of filter paper you are using
- G Out (Scale): the weight in the cup if you are using a scale
- Comments: what you liked, didn’t like, what you noticed
