Review Request
Thanks for stopping by.
If you’d like to inquire about me reviewing (and promoting!) your grinder or other coffee kit, please email me at tom@tomsgrinderlab.com.
You’ll find plenty of review examples by clicking on the Review tab above. Be sure to also check out the in-depth written review that accompanies each video which is one of the unique added value extras that are included in my reviews.
Fees
- Understanding my review workflow and how much effort my team puts into the promotion of each review (see below), may help to ease the pain of paying my fee.
- Review fees typically range from US$3,000 to US$5,000 depending on how much time an item takes to review.
- I have been known on the odd occasion to offset my fee by retaining ownership of an item (especially if its eye candy J) otherwise I’ll return the item to you after the review is published using the packaging that the item was shipped in, provided you send a fully paid return shipping label.
- Any arrangement that we enter into is always fully disclosed at the beginning of a review.
- Fees are to be fully paid after we've agreed on a publishing date and prior to the item being reviewed.
You can start the ball rolling by emailing me directly at tom@tomsgrinderlab.com.
My Review Workflow
- I personally use every item daily for 30 days prior to starting a draft review. (I don't do “unboxing" or “first looks" reviews because my brand is all about robust, in-depth, user-perspective content.)
- During the time that your item is on my coffee bench I am frequently making notes which becomes raw material for the review.
- I then start the draft of the written review and I purposely spread this out over a minimum of five days (often many more) because I find that fresh and important points come to mind by leaving the review and coming back to it the next day.
- I post on forums to gain direct feedback from users of your kit and these alternate perspectives may be included in the review if they add something new. (I believe that readers and viewers are reassured by hearing from more than one voice.)
- Once the written draft is complete, it goes to my editor for proof reading and a copy is sent to you also along with an invitation to write a short response which gives you the opportunity to point out any errors or omissions in my review. I call this the “Manufacturers Right of Reply" and at time of writing it is a unique feature of my reviews.
- While step #5 (above) is in process, I plan the video component of the review.
-
Once I've had a response back from step #5 I finish the planning for the view shoot by incorporating any relevant feedback. The video shoot is completed in three parts:
- •A photo shoot in the grinder lab studio; these photos are used to highlight important features during the final video shoot.
- •A video of the item in use in the grinder lab.
- •A video of me in front of the big screen presenting (think ‘weather presenter').
- Post production editing typically takes half a day.
- My team creates shorts and other “click bait” for Social Media.
- Optional: ideally I'll interview you or your team on the item, in the form of a video podcast.
- •A photo shoot in the grinder lab studio; these photos are used to highlight important features during the final video shoot.
- •A video of the item in use in the grinder lab.
- •A video of me in front of the big screen presenting (think ‘weather presenter').
Next, your review gets sprinkled around the internet like confetti at a wedding.
- Video and shorts are uploaded to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Reddit
- Podcast is distributed to multiple podcast hosting sites such as iTunes and Stitcher
- Video and written review are published on this website
